Retired pharmacist, age 61, lives in Western Massachusetts. Don’t yet know what line I’m descended from. My ancestor, William Dunham, was born in Brookside, New Jersey about 1803. Moved to Bakersfield, Vermont where he died about 1858. I’ve been actively doing genealogy since 1990. Have done a lot of my family but the Dunham side has been a brick wall. Am currently participating in the DNA study to see which line is my ancestor’s. Have been on the Board of Directors of the local and state pharmacy associations, including several terms as president. Was president of my local chapter of Parents without Partners, on the Board of Directors of Family Kindergarten in Andover, MA. Am currently Cemetery Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of Congregation Sons of Zion Synagogue in Holyoke, MA. (I converted to Judaism after my second marriage in 1990 to my Jewish husband.)

I was born in Charlotte, Michigan, daughter of Delbert F. Brown and Katherine E. Griffith, granddaughter of Sophia Amelia Dunham., but I grew up in Westfield, NJ. I graduated from Albion College in Michigan. and obtained an M.L.S. degree from Pratt Institute. I then went to work as a librarian at IBM, retiring in 1982. I moved to Colorado with my mother and we found wonderful friends here. We lost Mom in 1984. The rest of my family is scattered around the U.S. in California, Texas, Arizona, Iowa, Arkansas, North Carolina and Colorado, where my niece Joanne lives near me. Since retiring I have found a great interest in genealogy, finding 4 Mayflower Passengers, a Dunham Revolutionary War Patriot and an interesting Welsh ancestry that includes two living cousins in Wales; also a Calvanistic Methodist preacher and a bard in the Dictionary of Welsh Biography Down to 1940. I’ve been to Wales 6 times and will probably go again next year when Welsh Heritage Week that I attend annually goes again. I have joined a number of genealogic and historic societies and continue to research my genealogy. I’m serving on the Boards of the Colorado Mayflower Society and WISE (Wales, Ireland, Scotland, England Family History Society – a local society). I’m a volunteer at the National Archives at the Denver Federal Center (it’s really in Lakewood). My regret is that my parents aren’t here to share the interesting genealogy I’ve found on both sides as both were curious, but knew very little about their ancestries.
