Robert A. Dunham
DUMMERSTON -- Robert Arthur Dunham, 75, of U.S. Route 5, died unexpectedly Friday morning, Nov. 10, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Dunham was born in Putney on Dec. 15, 1930, the son of Elmer and Mildred (Johnson) Dunham. He was raised and educated in Putney and attended Brattleboro High School.
A lifelong resident of the area, he had been employed at Basketville in Putney, where he retired from in 1993 as a foreman following more than 40 years of faithful service with the company. Prior to joining Basketville, he had worked on the Henry Frost Farm in East Putney.
Mr. Dunham was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed fishing, candlepin bowling and time shared with his family.
On March 3, 1950, in Putney, he was married to Rachel Rogers, who predeceased him on April 14, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Francis A. Dunham of Dummerston and Charles R. Dunham of Keene, N.H.; two daughters, Doris E. Winter of Dummerston and Susan C. Winter of Putney; two brothers, Henry Dunham of Hinsdale, N.H., and Richard Dunham of Abilene, Texas; a sister, Irene Jewett of Putney; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was excited about the anticipated arrival of his seventh great-grandchild, due in June 2007.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by four siblings, Elmer Dunham Sr., Francis Dunham, Doris Dunham and Oliver Dunham
Graveside committal rites will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Putney, with the Rev. Fred McLacblan, S.S.E., pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, officiating.
Friends may call at the ATAMANIUK FUNERAL HOME on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
