R. Howard Dunham

Former South County resident R. Howard Dunham of Prineville, Ore., died Dec. 29, 2003, in Bend, Ore. He was 68.
Born Oct. 23, 1935, in Kent, he graduated form Kent-Meridian High School in 1953 and lived in the Kent and Maple Valley areas for 60 years.
Mr. Dunham retired as the manager and owner of the family business, Dunham's Supermarket in Kent, in 1992. As a young man, he was a champion archer. He was a member of Verity Lodge 59 of Free and Accepted Masons in Kent. He raised Arabian horses while living in Maple Valley and enjoyed reading, blacksmithing and collecting books.
He is survived by his sons, Tim Dunham and Rick Dunham, both of the Tri-Cities area; daughters, Tracy Dunham of New Jersey and Connie Harrison of Prineville, Ore.; mother, Kathleen Dunham of Auburn; brothers, Eugene Dunham of Auburn and Jack Dunham of Kent; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
