Thomas Gavin Bowie of Federal Way died Dec. 29, 2003, in Federal Way. He was 87. He was born Feb. 13, 1916, in Galveston, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Marie; sons, Thomas G. Jr., Robert J., and Michael J.; daughters, Jeanne Bowie-Shriver, Marilou Saunderson, Peggy Diaz and Patti Bowie; and 18 grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Federal Way. Committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Tahoma National Cemetery in Maple Valley. Arrangements are by Bonney-Watson in Federal Way. William H. Christiansen William H. Christiansen of Enumclaw died Dec. 26, 2003, in Enumclaw. He was 89. Born March 17, 1914, in Gresham, Ore., he married Marjory Hadley on July 12, 1941, in Seattle and lived in the Burien and Enumclaw areas for 85 years. Mr. Christiansen retired about 1977, after working at The Boeing Co., WP Fuller and Hansen Lumber. He was the president of Glen Acres Golf and Country Club in 1964. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Christiansen in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjory Christiansen of Enumclaw; daughter, Sharon Kessner of Enumclaw; sisters, Mary Jane Christensen of Olympia; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at noon Friday at Eternal Light Mausoleum at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial in SeaTac. Howard Dunham of Prineville, Ore., died Dec. 29, 2003, in Bend, Ore. He was 68. Born Oct. 23, 1935, in Kent, he graduated form Kent-Meridian High School in 1953 and lived in the Kent and Maple Valley areas for 60 years. Mr. Dunham retired as the manager and owner of the family business, Dunham's Supermarket in Kent, in 1992. As a young man, he was a champion archer. He was a member of Verity Lodge 59 of Free and Accepted Masons in Kent. He raised Arabian horses while living in Maple Valley and enjoyed reading, blacksmithing and collecting books. He is survived by his sons, Tim Dunham and Rick Dunham, both of the Tri-Cities area; daughters, Tracy Dunham of New Jersey and Connie Harrison of Prineville, Ore.; mother, Kathleen Dunham of Auburn; brothers, Eugene Dunham of Auburn and Jack Dunham of Kent; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent. Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Arrangements are by Yahn & Son Funeral Home in Auburn. Sam K.J. Gunderson Sam K.J. Gunderson of Soap Lake, formerly of Fall City, died Dec. 29, 2003, at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. He was 75. Mr. Gunderson was born and raised in Wales, N.D., the son of Hans and Beatrice Gunderson. On Nov. 22, 1947, he married Maxine Skjervheim in Crookston, Minn. They moved to the Snoqualmie Valley in 1951. Mr. Gunderson worked in construction as a mechanic and at the time of his retirement in 1972, he was employed as a superintendent at Reid Sand and Gravel. Following the death of his wife in 1989, he moved to Cle Elum and later to Soap Lake. Mr. Gunderson was a member of the Snoqualmie Valley and Cle Elum Eagles, North Bend Moose Lodge and the Soap Lake Business Men's Club. He was an avid Mariners fan and enjoyed playing cards and reading. Mr. Gunderson is survived by six children, Kenny Gunderson of Fall City, Jed Gunderson of Soap Lake, Corrine Gunderson of Cle Elum, Linda Gunderson and Audrey Hurst, both of Fall City, and Carol ``Uppy'' Gunderson of Bellevue; honorary son Mike ``Beef'' Dunn of Fall City; three brothers, Leo Gunderson of Ellensburg, Jim Gunderson of Post Falls, Idaho, and Noel Gunderson of Electric City; sister, Shirley Bricker of Bullhead City, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and fiancé Muriel Bradley of Soap Lake. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty McLean, in 1968 and his brother, Gary, in 1997. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Flintoft's Issaquah Funeral Home, 540 E. Phyllis Hutchinson Phyllis Hutchinson of Kent died Dec. 28, 2003, in Renton. She was 81. Born May 23, 1922, in Minneapolis, she married Carl Hutchinson on June 3, 1966, in Minneapolis and lived in Kent for 20 years. An office manger, Mrs. Hutchinson retired after 27 years with the federal government. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Kent. She enjoyed being involved with the church, especially being a Prayer Partner for young people within the parish. She is survived by her husband, Carl Hutchinson of Kent; and daughter, Dianne Johnson of Kerrville, Texas. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Parish in Kent. Chad Aaron Kenyon Chad Aaron Kenyon of Hollywood, Calif., formerly of Kirkland, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, in Los Angeles County Hospital of injuries suffered in an auto accident. He was 28. Mr. Kenyon was born on Aug. 27, 1975, in Bellevue, the son of Terrie and Owen Kenyon. He graduated from Juanita High School in Kirkland in 1994, and was a student at Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, Calif. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his parents, Terrie and Owen Kenyon of Kirkland; brothers, Lance Kenyon of Everett, Ryan Kenyon of Bothell and Shane Kenyon of Kirkland; sisters, Britianie Kenyon of Lynnwood and Jenelle Kemsley of Jacksonville, N.C.; and grandmothers, Verlee Thorpe of Bellevue and Erma M. Kenyon of Issaquah. A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at the LDS Church, Kingsgate Ward, 132nd Avenue Northeast and Northeast 132nd Street, Kirkland. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Bellevue. Green's Bellevue Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Earl G. Maxwell Former Maple Valley resident Earl G. Maxwell of Deer Park died Dec. 3, 2003, in Spokane. He was 61. Born Aug. 13, 1942, in Renton, he lived in the Maple Valley area for over 40 years. Mr. Maxwell worked as framer insulator at a railroad car manufacturer. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maretta. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Karen Maxwell of Deer Park; sons, Monty, Mark and Larry; daughters, Martie and Karen; brothers, Kenny and Ray; and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Deer Park Civic Center. Arrangements were by Ball & Dodd Funeral Home in Spokane. Meoyun Tasanasanta Meoyun Tasanasanta of Bellevue died Dec. 29, 2003, in Bellevue. She was 68. Mrs. Tasanasanta was born on Oct. 24, 1935, in China. She married Pan Tasanasanta on Jan. 10, 1962, in Bangkok, Thailand, where she owned G.Q Tailoring. The couple moved to Mercer Island in 1969, and she was employed as a tailor for Nordstrom, the Bon and elsewhere for 43 years until her retirement. They moved to Bellevue in 2000. Mrs. Tasanasanta was a member of Mercer Island Covenant Church and Lake City Elks BPOE 1800. She enjoyed ballroom dancing for 30 years, gardening and traveling. Survivors include her husband, Pan Tasanasanta of Bellevue; son, Sam Tasanasanta of Roswell, Ga.; daughters, Siri Betcher of Bellevue and Sunnie Gla; and nine grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mercer Island Covenant Church, 3200 78th Ave. S.E., Mercer Island. A private cremation also will be held. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4414 Woodland Park Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103, or a charity of the donor's choice. Greenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
