LOIS E. DUNHAM
Lois E.
Dunham, 88, of Pittsfield HealthCare Center in Pittsfield, and formerly of
Griggsville, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
She was born Sept. 13, 1918 in Griggsville to the late Charles A. and Hazel
Dunniway Phillips.
She married Preston Pinky Dunham March 29, 1939 in Bowling Green, Mo. and he
preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1982.
Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Allen and husband Rick of Griggsville; three
sons, Gary Dunham and wife Verna of Macomb, Ron Rocket Dunham of Griggsville,
Mike Dunham of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two
great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Russell of Pittsfield and Alberta
Shaw of Griggsville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Phillip Dunham; two sisters,
Kathryn Butler, Billie Lewis; and a brother, Harvey Phillips.
She was a 1936 graduate of Griggsville High School in Griggsville. Lois along
with her husband Preston owned and operated the Dunham Café in Griggsville for
several years. In later years, she worked at the Parkview Drive-In as well as
Griggsville City Hall in Griggsville until her retirement. Lois loved to bowl
and loved attending sporting events her children, and grandchildren played in.
She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
She was a member of the Griggsville Regular Baptist Church and the Griggsville
American Legion Auxiliary and a past member of Rebeccha Lodge.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Airsman-Hires
Chapel in Griggsville. Burial was in Griggsville Cemetery. Visitation was held
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the Griggsville American Legion
Auxiliary or to the Griggsville Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family
